Alien Sketch

New Illustration by Chris Trefz: A Sketch of an Alien from Aliens vs Predator

Introduction:

In the vast universe of science fiction and horror, there are few creatures as iconic and fear-inducing as the Alien. With its unforgettable design and nightmarish features, the Alien has captured the imaginations of fans worldwide. In my recent artwork, I aimed to capture the essence of this extraterrestrial nightmare, specifically drawing inspiration from the movie Aliens vs Predator. Combining the elegance of pencil drawing with the vibrant hues of digital coloring, I sought to showcase the intricate details and inhuman beauty of this creature.

Exploring the Design:

The Alien depicted in my sketch draws upon the unique design elements from the Aliens vs Predator franchise. Its elongated head, with its elongated cranium and fang-filled mouth, exudes an eerie sense of predatory grace. The enlarged four-fingered hands, tipped with menacing claws, convey the lethal nature of this otherworldly creature.

One of the most striking features of the Alien is its coiled and formidable tail. In my artwork, I took great care to emphasize this aspect, capturing the sinuous shape as it spirals through the composition. The knife-like tip of the tail stands out prominently, representing the lethal weapon it can be in the creature's arsenal. The tail serves as a reminder of the Alien's agility and its ability to strike swiftly and decisively.

The Fusion of Pencil and Digital Coloring:

Combining traditional pencil drawing techniques with digital coloring allowed me to bring the Alien to life in a captivating manner. The meticulous pencil work laid the foundation, capturing the intricate details and textures of the creature's anatomy. Digital coloring then added depth and vibrancy, enhancing the overall impact of the artwork. The contrast between the creature's dark, ominous appearance and the light fill of the background draws the viewer in to examine the inhuman details.

Conclusion:

The Alien, as portrayed in the Aliens vs Predator franchise, continues to captivate audiences with its grotesque beauty and menacing presence. Through my artwork, I sought to pay homage to this iconic creature, showcasing its unique design and otherworldly allure. The pencil drawing, complemented by digital coloring, allowed me to convey the intricate details and vivid colors of the Alien, immersing viewers in the terror and fascination that this creature evokes.

As we gaze upon the sketch, we are reminded of the enduring power of the Alien in popular culture and the indelible mark it has left on the genre. Its striking appearance and inhuman biology continue to instill both fear and awe, serving as a testament to the creative imagination that brought this creature to life.

Godzilla vs Sea Serpent

New art of King of the Monsters, Godzilla, the legendary reptilian star of Japanese studio, Toho. Updated 3/30/2023 This illustration depicts a colossal snake that arose from the depths of Lake Michigan and does battle with Godzilla in front of the Chicago skyline. The scene was based on the new composition "Godzilla in Chicago" by Michiru Oshima.  I had free range to choose which of the many versions of Godzilla I used, so I went with the GMK design, from the movie, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. A bit of a mouth full to say, but great flick with awesome creature designs, and an absolutely vicious take on Godzilla. The Sea Serpent was a brand new creature created for the music with no established design. For inspiration, I looked at real-life animals like the anaconda, which spends a lot of its time in the water, the moray eel, and a sunfish for its spikey fins. Work in progress for a new commission I'm working on. Sketch...

Friday the 13th, in October!

New Illustration by Chris Trefz of Jason Voorhees: The Ominous Horror of Friday the 13th in October. Introduction: Friday the 13th, a date etched in the annals of horror history, has long been synonymous with spine-chilling superstitions and dark tales. It's a day where the ordinary can take on an eerie aura, and the ominous seems all too real.  This year, the stars align in the spookiest way possible, as Friday the 13th falls in the eerie month of October. To celebrate this fortuitous alignment of dates, I've created a bone-chilling artwork that pays homage to one of horror's most iconic figures: Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th" film series. The Legend of Jason Voorhees: Before delving into the artwork, it's crucial to understand the legacy of Jason Voorhees. Born of the horror genre, Jason is a name that sends shivers down the spine of any self-respecting horror fan. This masked and machete-wielding slasher first appeared in the original "Frid...
