Cthulhu Awakens

“That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange eons even death may die.”
…Castro from Hp Lovecraft’s “Call of Cthulhu”

One of the cool things about Cthulhu is LoveCraft left it’s description open enough for each reader to picture what they personally found the most terrifying. Which has lead to a very wide variety of depictions and interpretations of his likeness by fans over the years.

This is my own envisioning of the evil alien god. I wanted an image that was both hideous and menacing looking. I also wanted to make him look somewhat decomposed looking, because of his death-like slumber. But also because of the scene where the doors to his city of R'lyeh open, the smell is described as the stench of a thousand crypts.

Godzilla Sketch

New Illustration by Chris Trefz of Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack - A Legendary Clash of Titans. Sketch of Godzilla from "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack". Introduction: In the realm of kaiju films, where colossal creatures clash in epic battles, there is one standout entry that has left an indelible mark on the genre for me: "Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack." Released in 2001, this film, produced by Toho Studios and directed and co-written by Shusuke Kaneko, captivated audiences with its thrilling plot, awe-inspiring monster battles, and a fresh portrayal of Godzilla as a formidable and villainous force. Accompanying this cinematic masterpiece is my own black-and-white marker drawing that aims to portray the malevolence and strength of Godzilla, capturing the essence of his role in the movie. The Plot: "Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Mon...

New Illustration by Chris Trefz of Survivaball: A Comedic Prank on Corporations to Spread Environmental Awareness. My salute to the Survivaball :) The Survivaball is a fictional survival suit created by comedians "the yes men", to raise environmental awareness. The message is that if we don't take care of the environment, then we're all going to need a Survivaball. You can also find lots of funny videos about it on Youtube. Introduction: There are few things more amusing than witnessing a clever prank, especially when it serves as a satirical commentary on the actions and behaviors of powerful corporations. One such hilarious endeavor was carried out by the renowned comedic duo, "The Yes Men," who masterfully used their wit and creativity to expose the absurdity of corporate greed. One of their most memorable pranks involved the infamous Survivaball, an inflatable suit that promised a whimsical solution to the impending doom of the apocalypse. Insp...

Merry Christmas - 2022

New Illustration by Chris Trefz of a Winter Wonderland: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Introduction: As the snowflakes fall gently from the darkened sky, I bring you seasons greetings with my latest digital illustration. In the scene above I strove to capture a winter wonderland, where a frozen lake shimmers under the moonlight, embraced by snow-laden evergreens and majestic mountains. Amidst this magical setting, groups of joyous ice skaters gracefully glide across the glistening ice, while Santa and his reindeer soar through the night sky, delivering Christmas cheer. This artwork, a departure from my usual science fiction and horror themes, encapsulates the essence of the holiday season with a touch of my own unique style. About the Art: The centerpiece of this picturesque scene is the frozen lake, its glassy surface reflecting the tranquil beauty of the night. The snow-draped evergreens create a serene atmosphere, casting elongated shadows under the moon's soft glow. Tower...
