New Artwork of the Jurassic Park Raptor: Capturing the Ferocity of an Iconic Predator

Velociraptor based on the Jurassic Park series.

Introduction:

Step into the prehistoric world of Jurassic Park with a new black and white marker drawing that showcases the awe-inspiring and terrifying velociraptors from the iconic 1993 film. In this blog article, we will embark on a journey to revisit the groundbreaking movie, delve into the unique traits and role of the raptors within the story, and explore the inspiration behind my artwork that aims to capture the ferocity and piercing gaze of these remarkable predators.

The Jurassic Park Phenomenon: Summary of the Movie:

Directed by Steven Spielberg and produced by Universal Pictures, Jurassic Park revolutionized the world of cinema when it was released in 1993. The film transported audiences to an island where dinosaurs once again roamed the Earth. With groundbreaking visual effects, a compelling storyline, and memorable characters, Jurassic Park became an instant classic, captivating the imagination of viewers of all ages.

The Unmatched Cunning of the Raptors:

Within the thrilling narrative of Jurassic Park, the velociraptors stood out as formidable adversaries. These cunning predators possessed a combination of intelligence, agility, and pack mentality, making them uniquely dangerous even in the face of the mighty T-Rex. Their smaller size allowed them to maneuver swiftly through their surroundings, and their relentless pursuit of the human characters generated an intense sense of fear and suspense.

Childhood Impression: Inspired and Frightened:

As a child watching Jurassic Park, I was simultaneously captivated and scared by the velociraptors. The way they hunted in coordination, their piercing gaze, and their relentless pursuit left a lasting impression. In my artwork, I sought to capture the essence of their ferocity and the intense gaze that could freeze one in fear. The black and white marker medium with an accent of green colored eye allowed me to emphasize their menacing nature and the intensity of their presence.

Conclusion:

With its groundbreaking visual effects and thrilling storyline, Jurassic Park introduced audiences to a world where dinosaurs once again ruled. The velociraptors, with their unique blend of intelligence, agility, and relentless pursuit, became an indelible part of the film's legacy. In my artwork, I aimed to capture the fierce essence of these predators, evoking the same mixture of awe and fear that I experienced as a child watching the film. Let us remember the impact of Jurassic Park and celebrate the enduring fascination with these remarkable creatures.

Godzilla vs Sea Serpent

New art of King of the Monsters, Godzilla, the legendary reptilian star of Japanese studio, Toho. Updated 3/30/2023 This illustration depicts a colossal snake that arose from the depths of Lake Michigan and does battle with Godzilla in front of the Chicago skyline. The scene was based on the new composition "Godzilla in Chicago" by Michiru Oshima.  I had free range to choose which of the many versions of Godzilla I used, so I went with the GMK design, from the movie, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. A bit of a mouth full to say, but great flick with awesome creature designs, and an absolutely vicious take on Godzilla. The Sea Serpent was a brand new creature created for the music with no established design. For inspiration, I looked at real-life animals like the anaconda, which spends a lot of its time in the water, the moray eel, and a sunfish for its spikey fins. Work in progress for a new commission I'm working on. Sketch...

Friday the 13th, in October!

New Illustration by Chris Trefz of Jason Voorhees: The Ominous Horror of Friday the 13th in October. Introduction: Friday the 13th, a date etched in the annals of horror history, has long been synonymous with spine-chilling superstitions and dark tales. It's a day where the ordinary can take on an eerie aura, and the ominous seems all too real.  This year, the stars align in the spookiest way possible, as Friday the 13th falls in the eerie month of October. To celebrate this fortuitous alignment of dates, I've created a bone-chilling artwork that pays homage to one of horror's most iconic figures: Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th" film series. The Legend of Jason Voorhees: Before delving into the artwork, it's crucial to understand the legacy of Jason Voorhees. Born of the horror genre, Jason is a name that sends shivers down the spine of any self-respecting horror fan. This masked and machete-wielding slasher first appeared in the original "Frid...
