Batgirl - Barbara Gordon

New Artwork of Batgirl: Ready to Take on the Crime-Ridden Streets of Gotham

Batgirl from Batman: The Animated Series

Introduction:

In the iconic Batman: The Animated Series, one character emerged as a beacon of justice and bravery alongside the Caped Crusader himself. That character is none other than Batgirl, a formidable ally and an embodiment of strength and determination. In this article, we will delve into Batgirl's origin and secret identity, her significant role in the show, and the inspiration behind my latest black-and-white drawing that captures her unique spirit.

Batgirl's Origin and Secret Identity:

Batgirl, also known as Barbara Gordon, made her debut in the Batman: The Animated Series during its second season. Barbara is the daughter of Gotham City Police Commissioner James Gordon, but she harbored a secret identity that allowed her to fight crime alongside Batman. By night, she donned a sleek black costume, complete with a utility belt and a cowl with bat-like ears, transforming into the fierce and agile Batgirl.

Role in the Show and Joining the Bat Team:

Batgirl played a crucial role in the animated series, bringing her own brand of justice to the crime-ridden streets of Gotham City. She was portrayed as a skilled martial artist, proficient in acrobatics and using gadgets to take down villains. In the later seasons of the show, Batgirl earned her place as a valued member of the Bat team, working closely with Batman and Robin to protect the city from its darkest threats.

Inspiration for the Drawing:

When creating my artwork of Batgirl, I drew inspiration from her vibrant personality and fearless nature depicted in the show. Batgirl's impulsive nature, often rushing into dangerous situations to lend a helping hand, became the focal point of my drawing. The pose I chose showcases her unwavering confidence, with fists balled and planted on her hips, and her shoulders back, highlighting her gymnast physique. It is a tribute to her determination and the unwavering spirit that makes Batgirl an enduring character.

Conclusion:

Batgirl's journey in Batman: The Animated Series captivated audiences and solidified her place as an iconic figure in the Batman universe. Her origin, secret identity, and role in the show showcased her unwavering dedication to fighting crime alongside Batman and Robin. My black-and-white drawing of Batgirl aims to capture the essence of her character, portraying her confidence and agility. As we celebrate her indomitable spirit, let us remember Batgirl as a symbol of strength, resilience, and justice in Gotham City.

Whether you're a fan of the animated series or simply appreciate the empowering presence of Batgirl, this artwork serves as a reminder of the impact she made and the inspiration she continues to provide.

Godzilla vs Sea Serpent

New art of King of the Monsters, Godzilla, the legendary reptilian star of Japanese studio, Toho. Updated 3/30/2023 This illustration depicts a colossal snake that arose from the depths of Lake Michigan and does battle with Godzilla in front of the Chicago skyline. The scene was based on the new composition "Godzilla in Chicago" by Michiru Oshima.  I had free range to choose which of the many versions of Godzilla I used, so I went with the GMK design, from the movie, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. A bit of a mouth full to say, but great flick with awesome creature designs, and an absolutely vicious take on Godzilla. The Sea Serpent was a brand new creature created for the music with no established design. For inspiration, I looked at real-life animals like the anaconda, which spends a lot of its time in the water, the moray eel, and a sunfish for its spikey fins. Work in progress for a new commission I'm working on. Sketch...

Friday the 13th, in October!

New Illustration by Chris Trefz of Jason Voorhees: The Ominous Horror of Friday the 13th in October. Introduction: Friday the 13th, a date etched in the annals of horror history, has long been synonymous with spine-chilling superstitions and dark tales. It's a day where the ordinary can take on an eerie aura, and the ominous seems all too real.  This year, the stars align in the spookiest way possible, as Friday the 13th falls in the eerie month of October. To celebrate this fortuitous alignment of dates, I've created a bone-chilling artwork that pays homage to one of horror's most iconic figures: Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th" film series. The Legend of Jason Voorhees: Before delving into the artwork, it's crucial to understand the legacy of Jason Voorhees. Born of the horror genre, Jason is a name that sends shivers down the spine of any self-respecting horror fan. This masked and machete-wielding slasher first appeared in the original "Frid...
