Chistmas Owl

New Illustration by Chris Trefz in Holiday Tribute to Nature and the Barn Owl: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Taking a break from monsters and aliens to celebrate the holiday season. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Introduction:

As the holiday season embraces us with its warmth and cheer, I find myself captivated by the beauty of nature and the wonder it bestows upon us. Inspired by my parents' passion for bird watching and my own fascination with the enigmatic Barn Owl, I have crafted a digital illustration that celebrates the splendor of Christmas and pays tribute to the remarkable creatures that inhabit our world. Join me as we embark on a journey through this enchanting artwork, where a Barn Owl takes center stage amidst a winter wonderland adorned with festive decorations.

The Captivating Barn Owl:

Perched regally on a tree stump in the foreground of the illustration, the Barn Owl commands attention with its piercing gaze and distinctive facial structure. Its unique appearance, reminiscent of an otherworldly creature, captivates our imagination and invites us to delve deeper into its mysterious world.

Every intricate detail of the owl's plumage has been meticulously captured, showcasing the delicate patterns and feathery texture that grace its light and earthy-toned body. The careful rendering of its feathers reveals the owl's ethereal beauty and highlights the contrast between its serene presence and the wintry landscape surrounding it.

A Winter Wonderland:

In the midground, a majestic evergreen tree emerges, adorned with a delicate frost of freshly fallen snow. This magnificent tree stands tall, its branches gently swaying under the weight of Christmas decorations that embellish its emerald foliage. Bright red bows and ornaments in shades of yellow and red enhance the tree's natural beauty, casting a warm and inviting glow against the wintry backdrop.

Behind the tree, snow-capped hills rise against a clear blue sky, creating a sense of depth and expansiveness. The dense line of snowy evergreens adds a touch of tranquility to the scene, reminding us of the peacefulness and serenity that the holiday season brings.

A Tribute to Loved Ones:

In creating this artwork, I sought to pay tribute to my parents, who have instilled in me a deep appreciation for the wonders of nature. As avid bird watchers, they have nurtured my fascination with the avian world, and it is through this illustration that I express my gratitude and admiration for their unwavering support.

The choice to feature the Barn Owl as the centerpiece is a nod to both their passion and my personal captivation with these mesmerizing creatures. By intertwining our shared love for nature and the holiday spirit, this artwork serves as a reminder of the precious moments we spend together, cherishing the beauty of our surroundings.

Wishing You a Merry Christmas:

As the joyous holiday season unfolds, I extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you. May the beauty of this digital illustration and the captivating presence of the Barn Owl inspire you to appreciate the magnificence of nature and embrace the spirit of Christmas.

In the spirit of unity and new beginnings, I also wish you a Happy New Year filled with hope, happiness, and countless opportunities for personal and creative growth. May this festive season be a time of reflection, love, and shared moments with cherished family and friends.

Conclusion:

As we gather around the hearth, surrounded by the wonders of nature and the joy of the holiday season, let us remember the importance of embracing the world around us. Through this digital illustration, I hope to kindle a sense of awe and appreciation for the intricate beauty of the Barn Owl and the tranquility of a winter wonderland.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all, and may the coming year be filled with blessings and boundless inspiration.

Godzilla vs Sea Serpent

New art of King of the Monsters, Godzilla, the legendary reptilian star of Japanese studio, Toho. Updated 3/30/2023 This illustration depicts a colossal snake that arose from the depths of Lake Michigan and does battle with Godzilla in front of the Chicago skyline. The scene was based on the new composition "Godzilla in Chicago" by Michiru Oshima.  I had free range to choose which of the many versions of Godzilla I used, so I went with the GMK design, from the movie, Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack. A bit of a mouth full to say, but great flick with awesome creature designs, and an absolutely vicious take on Godzilla. The Sea Serpent was a brand new creature created for the music with no established design. For inspiration, I looked at real-life animals like the anaconda, which spends a lot of its time in the water, the moray eel, and a sunfish for its spikey fins. Work in progress for a new commission I'm working on. Sketch...

Friday the 13th, in October!

New Illustration by Chris Trefz of Jason Voorhees: The Ominous Horror of Friday the 13th in October. Introduction: Friday the 13th, a date etched in the annals of horror history, has long been synonymous with spine-chilling superstitions and dark tales. It's a day where the ordinary can take on an eerie aura, and the ominous seems all too real.  This year, the stars align in the spookiest way possible, as Friday the 13th falls in the eerie month of October. To celebrate this fortuitous alignment of dates, I've created a bone-chilling artwork that pays homage to one of horror's most iconic figures: Jason Voorhees from the "Friday the 13th" film series. The Legend of Jason Voorhees: Before delving into the artwork, it's crucial to understand the legacy of Jason Voorhees. Born of the horror genre, Jason is a name that sends shivers down the spine of any self-respecting horror fan. This masked and machete-wielding slasher first appeared in the original "Frid...
